AVERLY designs and builds a small number of private houses each year, across London and the Home Counties.
A house should outlast the fashion that made it.
We are architect-led and we build our own work. The drawing and the making stay in the same pair of hands, so nothing is lost in the gap between them.
AVERLY takes on only a handful of projects a year. Each one is given our whole attention, from the first sketch to the last coat of wax on a handrail. We are serious about engineering, patient about detail, and quiet about the rest. The work is the argument.
We choose materials that are honest about age.
Stone, oak, lime, bronze and board-marked concrete. Things that darken, soften and settle rather than fail. A finish should look better in twenty years than the day it was laid.
